Hassan'adas (John Hassan) (South Africa)

This is a new project that was formed in the early part of 2010 with John Hassan as the leader, on percussion, vocals and acoustic guitar.

The musical focus of this project is to blend original African rhythms and sounds, that people can listen and dance to.

It was born from playing and recording with different musicians from around the globe.

Musicians that John Hassan has played with over the years include the late Miriam Makeba, Stimela, Hugh Masekela, the late Brenda Fassie, Manu Dibango, Papa Wemba, Chucho Valdez, the late Moses Molelekwa, Simply Red, Toto, Regina Carter, Carl Anderson, Sibongile Khumalo, Loading Zone, and Jimmy Dludlu, to name but a few.

Hassan’adas performed at the 13th Cape Town International Jazz Festival 2012, and at the Standard Bank Jazz Festival in Grahanstown 2012.

The rest of the band is made up of musicians that have played and recorded with prominent musicians. Kissangwa (Junior) Mbouta, an astonishing new talent from DR Congo on drums and vocals has played with artist’s like Afro Fiesta, Claire Phillips, Mel van der Spuy, Jimmy Omanga and Kool Matope. He also composed, produced and arranged the hit song ”Matinda “” which was number 4 on the hit charts on Heart 104.9fm

Guitar and backing vocals: Nathan Carolus.

Lucas Khumalo on bass and backing vocals has played with artist’s such as Freshlyground, Kusasa, Jimmy Dludlu, Judith Sephuma, Nash Reed, Judy Boucher, Loading Zone, Allou April and many others.
