With influences spanning music of his native Nigeria, jazz, and gospel, guitarist Kúnle Ayo has built a solid following since moving to South Africa in 2002.

Following a tour of North Africa, Europe and South American with Lagbaja during 2001, Kúnle relocated to South Africa in 2002, and based himself in Cape Town.

One of the earlier high profile appearances which arose, was his performance as a guest of the group Loading Zone at the North Sea Jazz Festival 2003.
